Concert Music

The composition Fire invites you to a journey into the world of fire, a phenomenon in which people have been interested for thousands of years. In the introduction, the French horn leads the main theme of a historical signal used by firefighters, which reappears in various forms within the composition. The signal in the introduction symbolizes a fire, seemingly civilized and tamed by humans. The middle part represents the danger of playing with fire which can be hazardous and destructive. Fire, however, can also mean being alive, shown in this mystical part with fiery spirits coming to life. The last part gradually leads us back into the human world. The fire is under control – isn’t it?
Fire can be seen as an educational piece of music. After the introduction, the composition is written in an A-B-A format, whereas the last part is a reprise of the first one with a coda. In the middle part it is the responsibility of the conductor to create a mystical atmosphere, e.g. flutes could be imagined as sparks and red and yellow sheets of paper could be used to imitate the crackle and colours of the fire.
